About

Created for Connection

We are relational creatures. From our earliest beginning, we live in relationship - with God, with others, with creation, with ourselves. Relationships shape our lives like chapters in a book, unfolding our personal story with experiences of blessing and burden, grief and joy. Relationships have great power to harm, but also to help and heal. My goal is to form such a healing relationship with you, built on earned trust, that helps you explore your past, clarify your present, and slowly cultivate a new way of being in the world. Our goal is to work towards your flourishing: knowing who you are and how to be, and possessing the courage to be that person. The core conviction of this approach is simple: we are relational, connectional creatures inside and out. God created us to experience peace and wholeness not only with himself, but others, the world, and even internally, in our inner-life. But things aren't how they're supposed to be. Inside - in our body and soul - we feel conflicted, even shattered. And in the presence of others we feel alone, uncertain, and broken. These "symptoms" bear witness to the disrupted connections within ourselves and interpersonally with others. Counseling involves me partnering with you in the exhilarating, challenging, and ultimately transformative work of restoring what is broken. Our goal is relational wholeness inside and out. This happens by deepening and correcting connection with ourselves, God, others, and the world outside us. WHAT DOES THERAPY LOOK LIKE? Every person, every life, every problem is unique. That means there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach that honors every person's story. Our goal is a new way of being, not pad-answers! But there will be a pattern, or rhythm, to our our time together. First, we take time to cultivate a relationship of trust. Then, incorporating evidenced-based practices that best fit your need (see "Approaches" below), we begin the work of healing and repair. This work largely focuses on cultivating insight and renewed agency in the four horizons that make up a person's story, or sense of self: (1) Intergenerational Life. The significant family blessings and burdens passed down to you from previous generations that shape your experience in the world. (2) Inner Life. Your internal world of emotions, dreams, memories, desires, and impulses. (3) Interpersonal Life. How you experience others (including God) and how others experience you in your different relational roles. (4) Imminent Life. The sense of direction and purpose that comes into view as you discern how your inner, interpersonal, and intergenerational realities uniquely equip you to be a life-giving presence to others, boldly giving and receiving love. "IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?" Let's explore that question together. Proverbs 14:10 says, "The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy." Grief and joy are deeply intimate, individual, and precious. So each person's rhythm and pace will be different. Please contact me if you'd like to discuss further your particular need and what a counseling relationship might look like. _______________ BIO I hold a master's degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA).
